Interview with Monique Dassen who visited our BRAX Class in Dhaka

With the commitment > EDUCATION FOR A BETTER FUTURE < we have been supporting together with our partner organisation ZXY International an entire primary school class of JAAGO’s school in Raya Baza since January 2018. We are sponsoring the Education Programm for 41 children who are visiting this school, which includes providing books, bags, uniforms, stationery, nutritious boosts as well as health checkups and the costs for qualified teachers. By sponsoring JAAGO Foundation’s Education Program we pave the way for these children to have equal opportunities to learning so that it uplifts the income levels of underprivileged communities in order to better their lives.

Our employees also have the opportunity to get an impression of our social projects locally. For this reason, we organized the visit for Monique Dassen, Area Manager BRAX Belgium/Netherlands. In July 2019 she visited the 41 children at JAAGO school in Raya Bazar together with her daughter. She told us about her impressions in the following interview.

Monique, how did you take notice of the JAAGO Foundation and how did you get the opportunity to see the children face-to-face?

I took notice of this project when I was reading the sustainability newsletter. I was very interested and got in contact with our Corporate Responsibility (CR) department.

In consultation with my colleagues from the CR department, I got the opportunity to visit JAAGO school together with my daughter during my visit in Bangladesh.

Did you enjoy your stay at our partner school and what impressions did you get there?

It was wonderful! The children were so kind and positive – for example, they sang for us. We learned and played together – always in English. I lost my heart to these children.

Is there anything special that you remember?

The children are always laughing – it’s so nice to see that they are happy.

Would you recommend this social project of BRAX, ZXY International and JAAGO Foundation? If so, why?

Yes, absolutely. This project is definitely the way to invest into the future of children. We pave the way for these children to have equal opportunities to learning so that it uplifts the income levels of underprivileged communities in order to better their own lives and the live of their parents – maybe they can contribute to a change in their country.

I think it’s important to support people in this country where BRAX products are manufactured. For me it’s very important to give children a future and help with voluntary donations. Therefore, I decided to support two childs of another class. I hope that there will be many other people who will decide to support children of the JAAGO Foundation as well.

I’m happy to work for a brand like BRAX supporting social projects.

Many thanks for this interview!
